ABOUT ME

Theunis kantoor.jpeg

During a career of 25years in the Gold, FerroAlloy and Steel Industry, working as an Engineer, Manager and Business Improvement Leader, I developed a real passion for Business Improvement.  I realised through personal experience and knowledge sharing that there is a real need to train and coach teams and managers at all levels to become brilliant at the basics first.  The pillars of World-Class-Manufacturing together with an intranet management infrastructure became the foundation for this training and coaching I can now provide.

I have an Engineering degree and completed an extensive list of additional management, technical and business improvement training courses and seminars.  However, the practical experience from significant operational challenges as an engineer and manager as well as the intensive period of training and coaching as a World-Class-Manufacturing coach and Senior Change leader became the qualifying factors for this new role.

Experience:

I had the opportunity to first experience the demands of operational management before spending significant time to research and develop an optimised operational management system.

  1. 1995-2002:  8 years as an engineer which started in Gold metallurgy research & as Gold plant metallurgist (2y); Planning engineer at a manganese production plant (3y) and a Process engineer at a steel plant (3y).

  2. 2002-2009:  7 years in management which included CI systems Manager (2y); Iron Making Development manager (2y) and Midrex Plant Manager (3y).

  3. 2009-2020:  11 years as Senior Change leader / WCM instructor.

[Total relevant Business Improvement [BI] Experience = 17 years.]

The skillset I developed can now be applied in any management environment.

Other Experience & Achievements to take note of:

  1. Part of facilitation teams for various turnaround / restructuring projects (2x with major consulting firms).

  2. Achieved WCM Bronze and Silver status in record times.

  3. Received Operational Excellence award for ArcelorMittal (worldwide) based on results of the WCM implementation.
